Vietnam striving to protect water resources in river basins
The International Day of Action for Rivers (March 14) is a day dedicated to solidarity – when diverse communities around the world come together with one voice to say that rivers matter. This year, countries around the world will take part in the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity amid the fact that the freshwater biodiversity is facing the worst degradation.
Recently, the Prime Minister approved the national biodiversity strategy by 2030 with a vision to 2050, which identified the country’s priorities on nature and biodiversity conservation for the time ahead – increasing the area of protected natural ecosystems, recovering and ensuring the integrity and connectivity of ecosystems, and sustainably utilising biodiversity to help develop a green economy and proactively adapt to climate change.
